I don’t mind failure. I believe failing once in a while makes me strong. However, if my failure contributes to the failure of my teammates, then it’s a totally different story. I am a sprinter, and I always run the last leg in the relay race. So when I was told to do it again at the athletic meet on our school’s anniversary, I thought I was going to do a good job. I also got the privilege of not having to practice with my team member. Then the day came. My team was coming in second when I grabbed the baton from my team member. With the support of the spectators, I ran with all my strength. Not surprisingly, I overtook the runner ahead of me and ran towards the finish line. Just before I got there, though, the baton slipped out of my hand and fell onto the track. There want my pride. And that was the worst failure a relay runner and his team could ever have.

My Regret
I regret having tried smoking two years ago. Partly out of curiosity and mainly because my bodies goaded me into trying it, I had my first cigarette. Unlucky, I got hooked on it. Since smoking was not allowed at school, I had to avoid the disciplinary officers all the time. I was sick of playing hide-and-seek with them, but I had difficulty quitting smoking. I envied my friends who did not have to depend on nicotine to give themselves a boost. I often think if I hadn’t been so curious or lacking in determination to simply say “no” to my friends, I wouldn’t be in so much trouble now. I know the only way I can quit smoking is to go clod turkey!

Have you ever crush people?
When I was 13, I had a terrible crush on my brother's best friend, John. I met him for the first time at my brother's 17th birthday party. At the party he sang and played the guitar. The moment I heard his voice, I fell in love. He had the sweetest voice I had ever heard. Then he started to come around to our house on the weekends. He and my brother would lock themselves in my brother's room, listening to the latest CDs. Sometimes my mom would ask me bring tea and snacks to them, and I always pretended to be reluctant to do it. But in fact, I was dying to see John. Two years later he went to study in New York, and my heart was broken. Now, I have a boyfriend and I rarely think of John. The feeling I had for him was only a crush.

Traveling by Yourself
I strongly believe that everyone should experience the kind of freedom that you have travel around the world on your own .With good planning you can enjoy great views, tasty food and unique souvenirs. Most of all, you can learn about other people’s cultures and broaden your vision, and at the same time, learn more about yourself.
It is a pity that most people tend to get cold feet when thinking about going abroad, because they are afraid of not having enough time and money, or sometimes, just because they are afraid of cultural conflicts. For me, time and money are not as important as attaining a sense of freedom through a trip.
On a trip, I can be free from tight schedules or from being on time to get everything down. I can make a nice plan for the day, in which relaxing activities are always included. Actually, just going shopping or going to restaurant without any hurry is already a leisure. Most important of all, I am deeply touched by the different people I meet while traveling.
Another important thing that I get from traveling is respect. As a black woman in North America, I have to do my best in my job because it is very easy for me to be unemployed. Therefore, at first, I preferred not going abroad in order to keep my job. But later, I found this way of life too stressful and it seems that I can gain respect and peace of mind at the same time if I travel to other countries, In many other countries, people welcome travelers and treat them the same as the people of their own country. Their warmth lightens up my life and my mind. So, regardless of the lack of money, it is always pleasure to have a warm and heart-touching journey.
